Championship 2026
(Information on this page will continue to be updated as we receive information from EBSL regarding Champs)
Please review the 2026 Championship Packet for all the rules that we must follow.
Championships this season will once again be a two day event. 13 and older will swim in the afternoon and evening on Friday, July 10. 12 and Unders will swim Saturday, July 11 from approximately 7 am to 4 pm. Champs will take place at Chabot College in Hayward.
Friday Meet typically begins at 3 pm and usually ends around 8 pm. Warm ups typically start around 2:30. Swimmers are generally expected to arrive at the pool no later than 2 pm and should plan to stay until approximately 8 pm.
Saturday is an all day long event.
Swimmers are expected to arrive at the pool by 6:30 am and the meet will probably end around 4:00 pm
Warm ups start at 7:00 am, Pool has to be cleared at 8:00 am and the meet starts at 8:30 am.
See Warm Up Schedule
Clerk of the course (COC) will be by the trophy display area ("Hall of Fame" display case) similar to where COC for 11 and up were for previous champs. Medley relay will be lined up at the deck right after team cheer in the morning. Coordinators should ensure that swimmers are lined up and on the deck at the right end of the pool for their relay.
We need the help of everybody on the team - parents included! All families with swimmers attending championship will need to work at the meet -- we will be assigning jobs. Plan on spending the whole day at the event.
Before Championship -
1. Championship Cover Contest: All EBSL swimmers are eligible! If any of your swimmers are artistic, please encourage them to enter the cover contest. The front and back cover will be in color this year. Artwork must be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11-inch white paper, hand-drawn in color (no computer-generated artwork) and swimmer's name, age, & team should be printed neatly in light pencil on the back of the page. There will be two winners: 10 and under & 11 and up. Winners will receive $50 and the 11 & up winner will be the cover for this year's program. For examples of previous years artwork, you can check here -
2. Championship Program: Every family going to championship should be buying a program - cost is $13 (there will be programs for sale the day of championship for $15). This will allow you to know what heat/lane/event your child is swimming. Check your email for details on placing an order.
3. Ads (in the Championship Program): This is the main fundraiser for the team and we encourage all families to participate. This is an opportunity for you to thank the coaches and cheer on your swimmers. Many families will scan in their child's swim team picture. Check your email for details on placing an ad for champs.
4. Champs Apparel: Please go to the Cuda Store on the website and place your order by ____. The artwork is on the main page and we have three shirt styles available - Men's, ladies and youth.
Ways and Means (Suzy) will be taking orders/collecting checks at swim practices and at the Newark Tri Meet. Bring your checkbooks to practices or the Newark meet for paying for the following orders: Champs Programs/ Champs Ads/ Champs Apparel. You should write one check for Champs ads/program. All checks are payable to MVST. Check your email for order details and deadline (coming soon).
Each swimmer will also be receiving a championship swim cap. Swimmers not attending championship will receive their cap at the awards dinner.
5. End of Season Dinner: This is for all swimmers on the team and family members and will be on July 12th, Sunday. External Vendor (TBD) will be catering the dinner this year. There will be a veggie option for the same price. Email will be sent closer prior to the date with order details and deadline.
Day of Championship
- Parking: Chabot College has requested that we park in the athletic sections, lots B and J. You must pay $3 Saturday. Please follow all posted parking rules. Tickets are $40.
- Swimmers should wear their red and black competition suit or a plain black tech suit and team cap -- if your swimmer has misplaced their cap, please make sure the cap is plain red or black with no writing. Remind your swimmer that they are not allowed to wear jewelry.
- Camp out area -- Our camp out area on the upper deck of the pool is shown on the map in the champs packet (marked as MV in front of the Men's locker room).
We all need to share the space, so please be considerate of others. We will bring the team canopies. No tents are allowed on the pool deck!!
All swimmers should plan to be in the team camp out area on the upper deck of the pool so that coordinators can find them and they can get to their events quickly. Parents/families with coolers and other gear can also use the grassy area outside the pool designated for the team. Please ensure that all swimmers stay on the upper deck and not in the grassy area outside.
An e-mail will be sent on Thursday evening with an aerial view of the location of our team's spot -- click here to see our team's spot last year / Aerial View
We need families to bring canopies for the grassy area as there may be no shade! Look for other MVST families -- or if you are the first one there, there should be a chalk mark with "MV" for our area.
- PARENT VOLUNTEER JOBS Every parent needs to do their volunteer job. There are descriptions of when you need to show up and what needs to be done -- if you are unsure, ask! The fine for not doing a job is $100 (more importantly, this will cause a family to not be in good standing with the team if you fail to do your championship volunteer job). Here are the EBSL Job Descriptions. We will be sending out an email for your assigned job, Our Parent Volunteer Coordinator will have all of your stickers on Saturday morning in the MV area on the deck.
- Programs The program will show what heat/lane your child is swimming. Ways & Means will hand out programs to all that pre-purchased one in the MV area on the deck on Saturday.
- Events: For our 12&Under swimmers, the coordinators will escort them to the staging area for their event, but we need parents to make sure your child is in the 12&Under camp out area. 13&Up swimmers will direct themselves to the pool deck and line up promptly for their event.
Meet will be run with 8 lanes in the deep end of the pool for 11 and older and 8 lanes in the shallow end for 10 and under simultaneously. The meet will start with the medley relays, beginning with the 7-8 Girls "B" medley relay AND the 11-12 girls medley relay at the same time on each end of the pool. There are bleachers in the deep end of the pool to watch the events. You are not to bring chairs to sit in along this area.
It will be a long day. Keep swimmers in the shade. Eat healthy food, stay well-hydrated, and have fun! We expect many of our Cuda families will stay through the awards ceremony at the end of the day on Saturday. It takes place after everything is cleaned up at Chabot.
Please let us know if you have any questions -- It should be a very exciting meet on Saturday!
