Championship 2017

Please review the 2017 Championship Packet for all rules that we must follow.

The Championship will take place at Chabot College on Saturday, July 29th. Swimmers arrive before 6:30 am and we hope the meet is done by 4 pm. We need the help of everybody on the team - parents included! All families with swimmers attending championship will need to work at the meet -- we will be assigning jobs. Plan on spending the whole day at the event.

There is no morning practice the Friday before championships. We will be practicing at Chabot College on Friday 7/28 from 2 pm. Please see the 2017 Friday practice schedule here.

Before Championship - Everything is due on 7/14!

1. Championship Cover Contest: All EBSL swimmers are eligible! If any of your swimmers are artistic, please encourage them to enter the cover contest. The front and back cover will be in color this year. Art work must be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 inch white paper, hand drawn in color (no computer generated art work) and swimmer's name, age, & team should be printed neatly in light pencil on the back of the page. There will be two winners: 10 and under & 11 and up. Winners will receive $50 and the 11 & up winner will be the cover for this year's program. Entries need to be submitted on or before Friday 7/14. You can turn in the artwork to Coach Don or Jodi Remeneski. For examples of previous years artwork you can check here -

2. Championship Program: Every family going to championship should be buying a program - cost is $10 (there will be programs for sale the day of championship for $12). This will allow you to know what heat/lane/event your child is swimming. You can place the order for the champs program and ads via the same form

3. Ads (in the Championship Program): This is the main fundraiser for the team and we encourage all families attending championship to participate. This is an opportunity for you to thank the coaches and cheer on your swimmers. Many families will scan in their child's swim team picture. Cost of ads: 1/8 page $15, 1/4 page $25, 1/2 page $50, full page $100

4. Champs Apparel: It is another great Coach Don design. Please go to the Cuda Store on the website and place your order. ALL orders must be placed by Saturday, July 15th at 10 pm. Due to the very short time frame that we have, we will be unable to take any orders after that date. The artwork is on the main page and we have three shirt styles available - Men's, ladies and youth.

Ways and Means (Natalie) will be taking orders/collecting checks at swim practices till Friday 7/14 and at the swim meets on 7/8 and 7/15. Bring your  checkbooks to practices or the Newark or San Leandro meet for paying for the following orders: Champs Programs/ Champs Ads/ Champs Apparel. You should write one check for Champs ads/program, and a separate check for champs apparel. All checks are payable to MVST.

Each swimmer will also be receiving a championship swim cap. Swimmers not attending championship will receive their cap at the awards dinner.

5. End of Season Dinner: This is for all swimmers on the team and family members. Dinner cost: $10 per person. El Rincon Taco Truck will be catering the dinner this year. There will be a veggie option for the same price. Click here to place your dinner order. Orders and checks are due no later than July 25. Please make your checks out to MVST and turn them in to Natalie or to Coach Cat during practice.

Day of Championship

  • Parking: Chabot College has requested that we park in the athletic sections, lots B and J. You must pay $2 on Friday & Saturday. Please follow all posted parking rules. Tickets are $40.
  • Swimmers should wear the team suit and team cap -- if your swimmer has misplaced their suit/cap, please make sure the cap and suit are plain. Remind your swimmer that they are not allowed to wear jewelry.
  • Camp out area -- 10 & Under and 11 & Up swimmers and families:

All families with 11U swimmers will be camping outside of the pool area. An e-mail will be sent on Friday, 7/29 evening with the location of our team's spot -- click here to see our team's spot this year / Aerial View

We need families to bring canopies as there may be no shade! Look for other MVST families -- or if you are the first one there, there should be a chalk mark with "MV" for our area.

10U families should camp out in the deck area. We all need to share the space, so please be considerate of others. We will bring the team canopies. The 2017 Championship Camp out Map for 10 and under shows where our space is on the deck. This year, we are assigned space in front of the women's locker room next to TV. No tents are allowed on the pool deck!!

  • All swimmers need to report for stretching at 6:30 am and Warm-ups will begin at 6:45 a.m. We have lane 11 in the deep end for 11&Up, and lane 8 in the shallow end for 10&Under to warm up. We will be dividing up the swimmers -- click here for 2017 schedule with warm-up times for each swimmer
  • PARENT VOLUNTEER JOBS Every parent needs to do their volunteer job. There are descriptions of when you need to show up and what needs to be done -- if you are unsure, ask! The fine for not doing a job is $100 (more importantly, this will cause a family to not be in good standing with the team if you fail to do your championship volunteer job). Click here for 2017 jobs assigned to each family and the EBSL Job Descriptions. Our Parent Volunteer Coordinator will have all of your stickers - please see Priti Dhingra for your sticker on Saturday morning in the MV area on the deck.
  • Programs The program will show what heat/lane your child is swimming. Ways & Means will hand out programs to all that pre-purchased one in the MV area on the deck. Families can purchase one at championship for $12.
  • Events: For our 10&Under swimmers, the coordinators will escort them to the staging area for their event, but we need parents to make sure your child is in the 10&Under camp area. 11&Up swimmers will direct themselves to the 11&Up clerk of the course area. The 11&Up tend to call into the pool area to find out what event is taking place to find out when they need to proceed.

Meet will be run just like last year. The deep end will have medley relays, beginning with the 8U Girls "B" medley relay. After medley relays, all of the 10U events, including the free relay, will be held in the shallow end of the pool; all of the 11U events will be held in the deep end of the pool. There are bleachers in the deep end of the pool to watch the events and you can stand along the railing by the shallow end. You are not to bring chairs to sit in along this area.

It will be a long day. Keep swimmers in the shade. Eat healthy food, stay well-hydrated, and have fun! We expect many of our Cuda families will stay through the awards ceremony at the end of the day. It takes place after everything is cleaned up at Chabot.

After the awards presentation on Saturday, it is tradition for many of the Barracuda families to meet at Fuddruckers (Union Landing) for dinner. Hope you can join us!

Please let us know if you have any questions -- It should be a very exciting meet on Saturday!
